CRANBERRIES
An array of talents and musical ingenuity best describes the Cranberries. I can still remember the year 1993 wherein their first album was released. They surfaced quietly amidst the progressing growth of Alternative Rock. I knew they'd make it. As far as I'm concerned, they indeed made it.
It was their second album that sky-rocketted them to further prominence. Who will forget the songs like Zombie, Ode To My Family and I Can't Be With You? I consider these songs classics. 'Zombie' had that texture of Rock that almost everybody can relate to. 'Ode to my Family' was subtle yet intense in terms of core essence. 'I Can't Be With You' is simply the 'Cranberries'.
To The Faithful Departed was definitely an album to buy. The album's main message is for those deceased because of injustice, sufferring, torment and the likes. It was very praiseworthy for the Cranberries to compose an album like this.
The band's fourth and fifth album was not as famous as the previous ones. Still, it did not lack the band's well-known artistry and talent. Maybe its just that both Bury The Hatchet and Wake Up and Smell the Coffee were soft and mellowed down. These were the years where the 'in' thing to many especially the youth is loud and disturbing music. [songs your mother would shout at]
Now, I'm eagerly waiting for their latest album which is the Treasure Box, a compilation of their first four studio albums--remastered and includes extra tracks. (it's not yet available in my place)
